A National Broadband Plan for our Future

The confluence of the recent national stimulus program and the early stages of the development of a national broadband plan have created the need for several federal agencies to define the terms of programs that will establish the metrics for both a national broadband strategy and that will be used to distribute the stimulus funds to qualified applicants across the country. We offer the following proposed definitions for consideration by the Commission as it begins to develop its initial national broadband

Auction of Broadband Radio Licenses Scheduled for October
The FCC has scheduled Auction 86 of Broadband Radio Service licenses to
begin on October 27, 2009. The auction includes 75 licenses that have been
made available as a result of cancellation by the FCC of previously issued licenses, and not all parts of the country are covered.
NTIA Pushes Back Schedule for Broadband Stimulus Grants
Last week, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)
submitted a status report to Congress regarding the ARRA economic stimulus broadband loans and grants (BTOP or Broadband Technology Opportunities Program). In the report,the NTIA provided a new schedule which pushes back the original time frame.
